Infosys May See Another Transition, V.Balakrishnan To Be Next CEO If Shibulal Gives Up The Post
The sources say Balakrishnan is the Murthy’s choice amongst two for the prime post. He is one of the earliest of the existing management team to have joined Infosys (in 1991). He’s also known within the company for proximity to Murthy. In October 2012, when he stepped down as chief financial officer, triggering speculation that it might lead to his exit, but Murthy, had come out in his support. He was appointed as head of Infosys’ India business unit, Finacle, and the business processing outsouring operations. These were widely viewed as the company’s effort to expose him to the operational side of the business. Around the time when Murthy returned to Infosys this June, Balakrishnan was given an additional responsibility as the chairman of Lodestone.
“I have no doubt at all that the Nominations Committee will look at him (Balakrishnan) at the time when they have to choose the next CEO,” Murthy had said in an email statement. So it is time to watch out for another big rejig at country’s second largest software company.
