What is it? The Java Enterprise Edition (Java EE) of the java computing platform is Oracle’s product meant to provide an API and runtime environment for developing and running enterprise software, which includes web services, large-scale secure network applications.

How hot is it? Very hot. Java EE7 not only allows for cloud-compatibility, but it also supports applications developed in HTML5, thus enabling richer web content, while allowing ease-of development for enterprise applications and solutions. The platform also enables Java EE for usage on Platform as a Service (PaaS).

Why is it important? Oracle brought out the ability of the computing platform to deploy cloud and web computing solutions, applications, and infrastructures in this version of the platform. Java EE’s software is primarily developed in the Java programming language and is configured using the XML.

How much does it pay? $129,000 per annum in Silicon Valley, and around $85,000 per annum in other parts of the United States
