New Technologies Announced In 'Railway Budget 2016' to Uplift Indian Railways


BENGALURU:  The recent railway budget presented by Union Railway minister portrays extensive use of latest technologies to upgrade existing condition of the Indian railway. The railway budget proposes to offer use of drones, Wi-Fi hotspots to access internet for commuters, install upgraded CCTV cameras, and many more. Commuters will also be kept updated with real time updates of trains, development of projects and also they will experience completely restructured IRCTC booking facilities. Wi-Fi Hotspots:

The railway minister confirmed that in partnership with Google, 100 major railway stations are going to be equipped with Wi-Fi hotspots like in Mumbai Central railway station in Mumbai. Commuters who used internet connection said they had satisfactory experience as they can conveniently use internet on their devices with good browsing speed. Government is also making efforts to engage other service providers to participate in the initiative where ‘Net Neutrality’ guidelines will be used to scrutinize service operators.
