Is Yahoo CEO the Man with a Fake Resume?

Bangalore: There is a mounting shadow over the esteem of Yahoo’s CEO Scott Thompson after Third Point; an activist hedge fund accused him of faking his Resume. The news came as a shattering shock to the corporation and they affirm that the news is a result of mere discrepancy in records.

Thompson, former president of Pay Pal, supposedly holds a bachelor's degree in accounting and computer science from Stonehill College in Boston. In his email to Yahoo Inc, Third Point’s founder and CEO Dan Loeb wrote that the Yahoo CEO has "embellished his academic credentials" and holds only an accounting degree.  "Stonehill College informed us that it did not begin awarding computer science degrees until 1983 - four years after Mr. Thompson graduated," said Loeb.

"Scott Thompson received a bachelor of science degree in business administration with a major in accounting from Stonehill College. There was an inadvertent error that stated Mr. Thompson also holds a degree in computer science," replied the spokesman from Yahoo, assenting Yahoo’s trust in its leader.

This is not the only hit on the genuineness of Yahoo officials by Third point, which is largest institutional shareholder of Yahoo with 5.8 percent stake. Loeb has also accused Patti Hart, who chaired the CEO search committee, of having tampered with her Resume as well. These have not been very great times for Yahoo, with revenues dropping beyond expectation, months after the appointment of the new CEO. Thompson was chosen as the leader of Yahoo in September 2011 preceded by the sacking of Carol Bartz as investors were unhappy with her performance.
