Facebook To Pocket More Users With Its New App Centers

Bangalore: Facebook, the massively popular social network, launched their App Center in India and six other countries. These app stores will help the users download apps on games, fashion, food, fitness, travel, and lifestyle, music services and media content easily. Every visitor to the app store is personally treated as they are led to their own recommended apps.

The App Centers are available in seven countries which include India, Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa and UK and have been functional in U. S. since June.

The users can access the new app store from the left side of the home page on Facebook.com. It is also accessible from the sidebar on the left-hand side of the iOS and Android Facebook apps as well as on the left side of the news feed on desktops.

Diamond Dash, Angry Birds Friends, Spotify, Nike+ Running, Stitcher Radio, Ubisoft Ghost Recon Commander, Draw Something, Pinterest, Rotten Tomatoes, Instagram etc. are some of the popular apps that are available on the new app store launched with 600 apps initially. Statistics show that at present more than 230 million people play games on Facebook every month.

Facebook Software Engineer Drew Hoskins said in the company blog that the center has driven millions of app installations. The center does not host apps, instead, it sends the users to the appropriate app store for their device, thus making it easier for them to find the best possible apps and games, Hoskins added.
