Apple's App Store Parties with 25 Billion Downloads

“A billion thanks. 25 times over” Apple’s website flashed on its site announcing the milestone it had surpassed. 25 billion apps have already been downloaded from Apple’s App Store, and the numbers are still ticking.

The immensely popular App Store just took four years to reach 25 billion mark in contrast to songs downloaded or  to be downloaded from the iTunes Store which took eight years and six months to touch 16 billion.

A competition kick started to honor the person who downloaded the 25,000,000,000 billionth app created much of frenzy amongst the app users with an estimated 49 million app downloads a day (according to Cult of Mac)  and the countdown ended with the snippet on Apple’s official website thanking the users.

Unfazed by competition from its competitors like Android and other brandstores, Apple’s specifically tailored apps, which come at a price unlike some of the others, are a wild hit amongst its users. With about 450,000 app downloads on Android, it hit 10 billion downloads in December 2011.

Considering the neck to neck competition Apple’ iStore and Google’s android stores are experiencing, Google sure seems to be left far behind post the celebratory note on the Apple’s website and the developers choosing iOS over android comes as no surprise.
