Apple Just Bought a Tiny Display Company!

BANGALORE: As reported by Tech Crunch, Apple has recently bought LuxVue Technology, a company that works on display technology. This could possibly boost the battery life of new Apple devices. The price of the dealing is unknown but LuxVue has received a venture capital funding of 43 million dollars.

When Apple first introduced its Retina display screens, it was considered to be the best because of its resolution, color fidelity and contrast. But compared to Samsungs OLED screens, Apple is a little behind in the type of display it uses. OLED (organic light emitting diode), is considered to be one of the best displays for smartphones when compared to the LCD screens that apple uses. OLED screens have high contrast, they are better in bright light and they have better battery backup. On Apples’ LCD display, the screens’ backlight uses all the power of the display that leads to a very short battery life.

With the help of LuxVue, the company that works on micro LED displays. Apple can improve its displays and produce display screens that don’t absorb too much battery power.

Before buying LuxVue, Apple has bought 24 new companies over the past 18 months to develop its products and improve its products. “Apple buys smaller technology companies from time to time and we generally do not discuss our purpose or plans,” Kristin Huguet, a spokesperson of Apple, wrote in an e-mail, reports Appleinsider.com.
