4. Interns = Royalty:

Microsoft is known to treat its interns as royalty. There was a time when interns were invited to a barbecue at Gates’ lakefront property. That does not happen anymore but there are other incentives. In 2011, 1000 interns were treated to a surprise performance by Dave Matthews’ Band at a Seattle zoo and a Cirque du Soleil show.

On a Saturday, a batch of interns was treated to pizza and they spent the entire day solving puzzles and having fun. Simon Krauss says that interns get free food, clothes and some even received engraved Zune digital media players.

The pay that interns receive at Microsoft is not bad either. It is one of the best by industry standards.
