5 Most Controversial Memos In Tech History

Bangalore: Memos, the recording of the events or observations about something, has a great effect, especially when it is from someone people look up to. Back in 1983, an 800-word memo changed marketing forever when Neil McElroy wrote the classic McElroy memo at P&G, which lead to the creation of the discipline of brand management.  In a now-famous memo, he argued that more attention should be paid to Camay, with extension to other P&G brands as well.

But today, the memos by CEOs are far from being positive or motivational; instead they are inflammatory. Here are 5 such examples of memos as compiled by Computer World.

This might be the shortest and sweetest memo in the list. In her letter to the employees, Carol Bartz confirmed that she is no longer the CEO of Yahoo. It stated, “I am very sad to tell you that I’ve just been fired over the phone by Yahoo’s Chairman of the Board. It has been my pleasure to work with all of you and I wish you only the best going forward.”
