3. AT&T tried to get ‘personal’ with Personal computing: AT&T tried, in a hostile effort to venture into personal computing by buying out NCR, the computer manufacturing company. It paid $7 billion for the buy, and when it didn’t work out, old out NCR for $4 billion.
2. Terra Networks and Lycos: Lycos, a search engine that was valued in billions, was bought by Terra Networks in 2000 for $12.5 billion. Unfortunately, 4 years later, Terra Networks sold it for a mere $95 million. Talk about huge losses!
