Google is planning to offer a new music subscription service through YouTube:
Google’s long-expected YouTube music service will be called YouTube Music Key and will feature more than 20m songs and videos curate specifically for YouTube.
The YouTube music service will offer a 30-day free trial, with a $9.99 monthly subscription giving access to high-quality tracks - complete albums, organized into artist discographies, specifically for YouTube with both video and audio-only streaming and offline listening.
It sounds like any other streaming music service in the market, including Google's already-established Google Play All Access service — but at the same time as YouTube Music Key launches, Google is expected to rebrand its current offering to Google Play Music Key.
Time Inc. rates writers on how beneficial they are to advertisers:
Time Inc. has fallen on hard times. Last year Time Warner announced that it would spin off Time Inc. into its own company, an act of jettisoning print publications once and for all.
This year, the company laid off 500 employees and most dramatically of all, Time Inc. CEO Joe Ripp now requires his magazine editors to report to the business side of the company.
It is a move that signals the full-scale dismantling of the traditional wall between the advertising and editorial sides of the company's magazines.
