Though IIT Bombay descended from its number one position to 3^rd position, it still remains the most sought after by students. The institute big on innovations, launched ‘E-Yantra’—a pan-India challenge on robotics. On the education front, the institute coped well. IIT Bombay and Applied Materials  jointly launched India’s first certification course in semiconductors technology and manufacturing. Through this course the institute intends to address the critical need for developing a trained, high-tech workforce in India which would help in meeting the country’s growing demand for electronic devices. This year also marked the institute’s association with Datawind for Aakash 2.
