US based Alphatron Capital intends to invest in different Tech sectors in India
US based venture capital firm Alphatron Capital, which was previously known as SMK Ventures, is a well-known venture capital firm. Recently they have announced the closure of its inaugural fund. The fund was primarily targeted at $25 million, and it also saw interests from few notable investors. Now, they are surpassing, their expected fund by 20% and closes at an impressive $30 million.
According to the Founding Partner at Alphatron, Vishwesh Pai, the company has started deploying capital with investments made in two promising startups. One of the important investments includes Pixel, a cutting-edge space technology company with operations spanning across India and the United States. Alongside, Alphatron Capital has backed a promising Indian fintech startup.
Pai also said that, the firm is eyeing on expanding its portfolio with over eight direct investments across diverse technology sectors in India. the primary objective is to provide American investors with access to a diverse array of India's burgeoning technology and technology-enabled companies while streamlining entry barriers.
Karan Negi, Founding Partner and CEO of Alphatron Capital, said, “With 11 fund-of-fund investments and five special purpose vehicle/Co-investments already made, Alphatron Capital remains committed to identifying and supporting innovative tech-led funds and co-investment opportunities.”
The venture capital firm wants to invest in companies working with Software as a Service (SaaS), particularly those incorporating Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) technologies. Also they are keen on investing in fintech sector, health technology, digital content, and direct-to-consumer sectors in India.
