Took By Storm, Startup Culture, Making Travelling Hustle Free

4. TravelKhana - Quality food, everywhere

All trains do not have pantry car bogie attached and travelers are left to the mercy of food available at stations. Founded in 2012, TravelKhana offers a quality food for the rail traveler with standardized menu across restaurants. So far, the startup has served nearly 1.5 million customers on trains, delivering 5,000 meals a day. The app ensures seamless connectivity for customers especially when train passing through areas with weak networks; app works offline as well.

Here, one can place with a phone call or on the website or mobile app. "We are using technology to drive efficiencies. Train movement is tracked from an operational centre and algorithms are used to predict train delays," says Pushpinder Singh, founder, TravelKhana.

There are other startups similar to TravelKhana offering food ordering and delivery to passengers on the train—KhanaGaDi, Yatrachef, RailRider and RailRestro.
