- Mohit Rajani resigns as Meesho’s CPO less than a year after joining from Meta.
- Prasanna Arunachalam elevated to CPO, bringing 5 years of in-house product leadership.
- Second CPO exit in two years as Meesho prepares for a potential Rs 8,500 crore IPO.
In a major leadership transition at e-commerce unicorn Meesho, Chief Product Officer (CPO) Mohit Rajani has quit less than a year since his hiring. Rajani, previously an executive at Meta, who joined Meesho in September 2024, is to leave the company within the next few weeks.
Rajani’s departure marks the second exit from the CPO position in under two years. He had succeeded Kirti Varun Avasarala, who left Meesho to join Uber late last year.
Taking up the role is Prasanna Arunachalam, a seasoned Meesho executive who has been with the firm for almost five years. He previously spearheaded monetization and content commerce. Prasanna is an IIM Bangalore alumnus and brings intense product management experience and a solid understanding of India's fast-changing digital commerce landscape. He is poised to take on a key role in furthering Meesho's vision of democratizing internet commerce.
Rajani, an MBA from Harvard Business School and Computer Science graduate from IIT Delhi, was set to power product thinking and AI-driven growth as Meesho gears up for a possible public market listing to raise as much as Rs 8,500 crore.
Before Meesho, Rajani had key roles at tech companies including Meta, Instagram, and Google. At Meta, he drove Messenger's monetization efforts into a multi-billion-dollar enterprise. At Instagram, he worked to launch its ads and business products, expanding the base of advertisers to more than a million.
CEO Vidit Aatrey had earlier expressed strong confidence in Rajani’s leadership. An internal email regarding his exit was reportedly circulated among employees, though Meesho has not officially commented on the development.
