LAT Aerospace Opens Gurugram R&D Hub for Next-Gen Aircraft Parts
  • LAT Aerospace moves to a 50,000 sq. ft. R&D facility in Gurugram
  • Startup begins setting up in-house labs for aircraft component development
  • Co-founders Deepinder Goyal and Surobhi Das focus on STOL aircraft for regional travel

Aerospace startup LAT Aerospace, Co-Founded by Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal and former COO Surobhi Das, has moved into a new 50,000-square-foot research and development (R&D) facility in Gurugram. The company has also begun establishing in-house laboratories to design and manufacture key airplane components such as powertrains and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) systems.

According to Co-Founder Surobhi Das, the company’s engineering team is working on optimizing short take-off and landing (STOL) aircraft, lightweight, low-cost planes ideal for regional connectivity. “We’re focusing on reducing aircraft weight, developing hybrid-electric system infrastructure, and creating in-house physics models and simulators from scratch”, she said.

Founded in early 2025, LAT Aerospace aims to develop eight-seater STOL aircraft designed to operate on intercity routes, bridging short-distance travel gaps across India. The company currently employs around 10 engineers across Delhi and Bengaluru, with plans to expand rapidly as operations scale.

Goyal, who has invested $20 million into the venture, is also supporting LAT’s plans to raise an additional $50 million in seed funding. The new R&D facility will serve as the core hub for building hybrid-electric aircraft systems and gas turbine engines, advancing India’s aerospace innovation ecosystem.

By blending advanced simulation tools with homegrown technology, LAT Aerospace is positioning itself as one of India’s most promising players in next-generation regional aviation.
