  • TruthIn wins 'Promising Innovation' award at INFUSE 2025 by ICMR–NIN
  • Platform builds AI-led nutrition data infrastructure for packaged foods
  • Recognition opens doors for policy research and public health collaboration

TruthIn, the consumer-facing nutrition platform by NatFirst, has been recognized as a 'Promising Innovation' at the INFUSE 2025 Innovation Summit organized by the ICMR–National Institute of Nutrition (ICMR–NIN). The award highlights TruthIn’s work in building a robust, AI-powered data infrastructure that standardizes nutrition information for packaged foods in India.

The recognition by India’s apex nutrition research body positions TruthIn as one of the most advanced technology platforms aligned with the national goal of creating a transparent, nutrition-focused data ecosystem. Following this honor, TruthIn is expected to collaborate closely with ICMR-NIN on policy-level research and the development of AI tools for researchers, regulators, public health experts, and the wider food and beverage industry.

TruthIn operates at the intersection of technology, public health, and consumer awareness. The platform has already indexed more than 55,000 packaged food products across 100 food and beverage categories. Its AI systems have analyzed over 8,000 ingredients and 200 nutrients, creating one of India’s most comprehensive nutrition datasets.

Dr. Aman Basheer Sheikh, Co-founder and Chief Medical Officer of TruthIn, said the recognition validates the company’s long-term mission to help Indian families better understand what goes into their food and make healthier choices. He noted that informed consumption can influence both personal health and national nutrition priorities.

Ravi Putrevu, Co-founder and CEO, added that TruthIn was built on a simple idea: Indian consumers deserve clarity about the quality and nutritional value of what they eat. Inspired by global models such as Europe’s Nutri-Score, the platform adapts similar science-backed principles for the Indian market.

TruthIn has crossed 1.3 million downloads, with over 150,000 monthly active users. Its AI engine processes millions of food label searches, with nutrition data reviewed and validated by qualified nutritionists.
