First group of Google for Startups Accelerator for Indian female founders concludes
The first cohort of Google's business accelerator programme for Indian women founders has already been completed, the company stated. The three-month programme contained a curriculum and engagement opportunities that addressed topics like recruiting difficulties, mentorship, finance availability, and network access. The initiative, which was started last year, aims to support companies as they develop and expand.
Between 25,000 and 27,000 tech firms were founded in India during the past ten years, according to a Zinnov-Nasscom research, however women now make up less than 18% of startup founders and leaders. One of the 20 founders who participated in the programme, Srishty Jain of the business CoLLearn, said: "Our viewpoint shifted.
We began considering ways to serve people all around the world and looking beyond of India. Also, it provided us with a framework for structured thinking for product releases, scaling up, and digital marketing, all of which have benefited our team and helped us chart the road for our upcoming phase of growth." The initiative "allowed us to dig down to our roots, directly to addressing the leaks in our pipeline," according to Aakanksha Varude of OPOD Audio, who was also a participant.
Paul Ravindranath, the programme manager of the Google for Startups Accelerator India, wrote in a blog post that the first cohort shows the potential of a group of peers who face similar difficulties. Not only have the female founders formed alliances among themselves, but several of them have also started doing business with one another, he claimed. We are eager to start accepting applications for the following batch, he said.
