DPIIT Secretary Reviews Deep Tech & Industrial Growth Projects in Karnataka

·  DPIIT delegation engages with startups at India’s largest Deep Tech CoE for IoT & AI in Bengaluru.

Shri Amardeep Singh Bhatia, Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), headed a top-level delegation to Bengaluru to enhance innovation and industrial growth initiatives in Karnataka. The visit featured interactions with startups, incubation centers, and major infrastructure projects in the state.

The delegation, comprising Shri Rajat Kumar Saini, CEO & MD, NICDC, DPIIT representatives, and the Head of Startup India, also explored the K-tech MeitY Nasscom Centre of Excellence for IoT & AI- India's biggest deep tech innovation center. Functioning with an objective to enable startups, industry, academia, and government to interact, engage, and collaborate, the Centre specializes in cutting-edge technologies like IoT, AI, Machine Learning, Robotics, AR/VR, and Big Data.

During the tour, the DPIIT team engaged with incubation managers and startup founders to comprehend the local innovation ecosystem and pinpoint areas of policy-level assistance to facilitate growth scaling. The conversation was focused on how the emerging technology can address actual challenges in urban development, logistics, and manufacturing.

Subsequently, Shri Bhatia inspected the Tumakuru Industrial Area, a flagship project under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme (NICDP). The inspection highlighted Phase A of development covering 1,736 acres with progress on road building, drainage, and utility corridors.

The DPIIT team conducted a progress review meeting with Larsen & Toubro (EPC contractor) and HaskoningDHV (PMC contractor), where L&T agreed to speed up construction to allow land allotment to industries by the end of the year.

The Secretary underlined the requirement for all stakeholders to adhere to schedules while upholding top-quality standards to ensure Tumakuru receives global and domestic investment in electronics, clean tech, automotive, and logistics sectors.

The tour also featured visits to Foxconn Hon Hai Technology India Mega Development Pvt. Ltd., Devanahalli Aerospace SEZ, and Dynamatic Technologies, which provided glimpses of India's increasing presence in advanced manufacturing and the aerospace supply chain.

The review was followed by a multi-stakeholder meeting participated by senior officials of the Government of Karnataka, NICDC, KIADB, and District Administration of Tumakuru with the objective of synergizing efforts for early and quality completion of crucial industrial projects.

Shri Bhatia called for taking advantage of the synergy among deep tech innovation, industrial infrastructure, and policy facilitation to fuel investment and export-driven growth for India.
