Cisco to Acquire Indian Co-Founded Truviso

Bangalore: Cisco, the California based networking giant revealed its plans to acquire California based real-time network analysis firm Truviso, for an undisclosed sum.

Truviso, which was founded in 2006 by University of California student Sailesh Krishnamurthy and his professor Michael J Franklin, provides scalable, real-time network data analysis and reporting software.

One of the pioneers in continuous analytics space, Truviso’s software- process streaming data as it arrives rather than the usual method of accumulating data first and then running queries on the dataset. The software claims to monitor and analyze data of up to half million records per second.

Cisco will be integrating Truviso’s technology to Cisco Prime, the company’s network management platform. According to Jamie Lerner, vice president and general manager, Cisco Network Management Technology Group, “customers want to be able to tap into and better analyze the enormous volume of data traversing their networks to identify ways to enhance services and generate new revenue opportunities. Embedding Truviso’s real time business intelligence into the network will help customers unlock these capabilities at the speed of the network.”

Truviso technology, along with its team will be acquired in a deal which Cisco plans to close by Q4 2012. With the acquisition, Cisco plans to strengthen its operational efficiencies and drive new revenue stream for customers.

“Truviso acquisition reinforces Cisco’s commitment to delivering intelligent networks and supports our five foundational priorities by providing differentiated solutions with streaming real-time analytics for the core, data center, virtualization, collaboration, and video,” Cisco said in the press release.
