Through its app, Indian fintech business BharatPe is able to offer food ordering and delivery services thanks to an integration with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).
The 15 million users of BharatPe can access over 140,000 restaurants in over 400 Indian cities with this capability. BharatPe wants to make using several apps unnecessary in order to improve user experience. After renaming their postpe app in August 2024, BharatPe has made their first significant update with this connection. Now, users may order from a variety of eateries, track deliveries in real time, and peruse the menu. To improve the whole experience, the app also provides customized meal recommendations based on customer preferences and order history.
Expressing to this, Nalin Negi, CEO of BharatPe stated that the collaboration with ONDC is in line with the mission of Bharatpe to drive digital adoption and nurture domestic businesses.
“This partnership will allow thousands of small food outlets to reach new consumers and grow their businesses,” Negi added.
The goal of the government-backed ONDC effort is to build an open and interoperable digital network that would enable smooth commerce between customers and merchants using different apps. The MD and CEO of ONDC, Thampy Koshy, emphasized how the collaboration will facilitate digital commerce and increase market access, hence propelling growth for regional food enterprises. The BharatPe app provides a variety of payment options, like as bill payments, discounted gift cards, and UPI transactions, in addition to meal delivery. The addition of this new product enhances BharatPe's standing as a complete digital payment solution.
