B2B seafood 'Captain Fresh' takes over Poland based salmon dealer Koral

A B2B platform which deals in seafood and fishes, has announced that they have acquired Poland-based salmon company Koral. This acquisition is the company’s third major acquisition this year which is followed by the acquisition of CenSea in the United States and Senecrus in France.

The company acquired Koral in order to expand Captain Fresh's presence in the European seafood market, particularly in the lucrative salmon segment.

The Salmon dealer company Koral was founded by Boguslaw Kowalski, which is a part of renowned fish-producing and processing firm Graal Group.

Specializing in smoked salmon products under the SuperFish brand, the company serves domestic and international markets. With 26 production lines, it processes 120 tons of fish daily. This acquisition supports Captain Fresh's strategy to enrich its portfolio with premium seafood offerings.

CEO of Captain Fresh, Utham Gowda said, "This acquisition is a strategic milestone in our mission to become the leading tech-enabled multi-species, multi-origin global seafood conglomerate."

In his speech he underscored  the ea food of market of Europe, which offers exciting opportunities for value-added seafood products, and Koral's inclusion will bolster Captain Fresh's offerings to marquee Polish and German retailer brands.

In the acquisition, Justyna Frankowska, a current board member of Koral, will transition into the role of CEO. Meanwhile, Boguslaw Kowalski will maintain a key leadership position, driving Captain Fresh's global salmon strategy forward.

Although financial specifics of the acquisition were not disclosed, the transaction enables Koral's private equity backer, Abris Capital Partners, to exit.

Captain Fresh, supported by investors like Tiger Global, Prosus Ventures, and British International Investment, has secured a total of $165 million in funding to date.
