US Retailer Target Selects 6 Start-Ups for its Accelerator Program

Target, the Minneapolis-based retailer operating more than 1,800 stores in the US and has been running its start-up accelerator programme in India since 2013, has selected six start-ups as part of its ?Accelerator Program?, adding to a growing list of 36 start-ups mentored by Target to develop innovative retail technology services and products.

Target Accelerator Program (TAP) gives start-ups a platform to develop, scale and test products within the Target ecosystem while accessing mentors within the company. Selected participants will spend four months working closely with Target on technologies ideas for the retail industry at large. The accelerator is administered from targets Bengaluru office, an extension of its Minneapolis, Minnesota headquarters.

The six selected start-ups for this year are Kenome, Point105-AR, Quilt.ai, Moodboard, Eder.ai and StyleDod. These start-ups have expertise in the areas such as artificial intelligence, 3D technologies and blockchain. StyleDod has a tool that automatically converts floorplans into 3D designed rooms while Point105-AR provides a holistic 3D asset management solution for augmented reality experiences.

?As consumer expectations evolve, the retail sector is changing dramatically. Our accelerator program allows us to test a broad set of external innovations that can differentiate and enhance guest experiences while giving these start-ups an opportunity to build scalable solutions for global markets?, says Ravi Kanniganti, Director of Innovation, Target India.
