Impact of Startup Accelerators: $1.6 Bn Raised, 2000 Startups Funded, 4800 Jobs Created


Bangalore: Over a period of time there has been a gradual switch and the startup eco system is picking up pace. People are slowly realizing the importance of startups and entrepreneurs and their value has quite well increased in the society. Entrepreneurs and businessmen might be striving a lot to set up a company but none can deny the significance of accelerators in this step.

Undoubtedly, accelerators play a major role in the life cycle of a company or in fact many startups are born only through this medium. Hence it is important for us to realize and understand the importance of not just startups but also these accelerators who toils to ensure that the startup baby is born and ready to walk.

Apart from acknowledging the importance of such startup boosters, a closer dive into it gives statistical figures that can amaze all of us. Accelerators have gone far beyond our imagination; it is now a mighty industry where various activities are done. There are about 134 seed accelerators in 33 countries, reports TechCrunch.

The report prepared by Seed-DB also points out the facts on the total funding and the amount transacted. It records that around 2,000 startups have been funded with over $1.6 billion being raised. On an estimating count, around 100 startups have been sold for a whopping $1 billion and these startups were successful in creating over 4,800 jobs.

The list only has three accelerators from India - TLabs from Delhi NCR, iAccelerator and The Morpheus from Bangalore.
