Google Moves Another Step Closer To "Connected Home" With Nest Buyout


Bangalore: Google acquired Nest labs, a California based startup firm that develops thermostats and smoke detectors for a whopping $3.2 billion. The deal by the search engine giant is considered to be the next step of making their ‘‘connected home’’ a reality reports.

The detectors manufactured by the budding startup are high on customer preference with its interactive features such as alerting the people in human voice. The devices can be turned off in case of no emergency by as simple as a hand shake.

Tony Fadell, CEO of Nest and a former employee at Apple said: “We’re thrilled to join Google. With their support, Nest will be even better placed to build simple, thoughtful devices that make life easier at home, and that have a positive impact on the world,” as reported by Times Of India.
