5 Naming Disasters Every Indian Startup Must Avoid

#3 Naming as per Location

Some companies are geo centric – they cater to a certain location, therefore the founders decide that naming it by the location of its establishment will be a good idea as it will attract local customers. This may hold true for some rare cases but you have to ask yourself, “How will the name hold up when the company grows in size?” Imagine if pizza hut was pizza Bangalore or pizza Coimbatore? How ridiculous would it be? Naming a company by location is a strict NO!

#4 Using a Meaningless Acronym

Business owners often resort to meaningless acronyms in order to preserve their family name or the group which formed the idea or something totally unrelated to the business. It is important to understand that the acronym will not always be a secret between you and your cat, people will ask questions and you have to give a valid explanation as to why you have chosen such a name. If your reason for choosing the name is baseless or irrelevant then, be prepared to see a flaccid face.
