5 Interesting Food Startups Started By IIT-Grads


 #2.Travelkhana

Pushpinder Singh, who has masters in Computer Science from BITS Pilani and a BTech from IIT, launched Travelkhana and has funding from Google India head Rajan Anandan.

Travelkhana is a meal-booking platform which connects train passengers with restaurants on the Indian Railway network, where the travelers can place orders using the website, phone, SMS, or mobile app, and the food will be delivered to them when the train reaches a particular station. They cater to about 2600 trains running across the country and have served 18, 4488 passengers, since the start. Travelkhana earns money by charging a commission of about 18 to20 percent on every order.

#3.Foodies Compass

Manish Goyal, an IIT Bombay graduate launched Foodies Compass, a food lover’s guide. They provide information related to food with food pictures, ratings and reviews.

“As a backpacker and traveller, there was always this problem of what to order due to lack of visual and credible sources. So, we introduced this website and app where people can see visuals of food before they order,” said Goyal.   

Foodies Compass is serving to more than 150 restaurants in Gurgaon, with their pictorial menus and they look forward to expand their outlets to other cities as well.
