The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has invited applications for the Head of Cricket Education at its Centre of Excellence (COE) in Bengaluru. The vacancy follows the exit of former India opener Sujith Somasunder, who stepped down to contest the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) elections.
The full-time role is a key part of BCCI’s long-term plan to elevate cricket education nationwide. The selected candidate will lead the design, delivery, and improvement of cricket and sports-science education at the COE, supporting coaches, athletes, state academies, and high-performance programs across India.
Somasunder had served in the same role at the National Cricket Academy since 2019 before resigning to join the KSCA polls under the group led by former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad. Both were previously part of the KSCA administration when Anil Kumble and Javagal Srinath were president and secretary.
The new Head of Cricket Education will manage the entire coach education framework, including Level A, B, and C coaching courses, national refresher programs, curriculum development, and coach accreditation. The role also involves using modern performance-analysis tools such as video analytics, GPS trackers, athlete-management systems, and wearable technology to deliver advanced training insights.

International playing or coaching experience is preferred, along with at least five years of work with elite athletes. Strong communication skills and experience across domestic and high-performance environments are essential for the role.
