Australia Sets ODI Record with Historic Chase Against India
  • Australia pulls off the highest successful run chase in women’s ODI history
  • Alyssa Healy scores a stunning 142 off 107 balls
  • India’s late batting collapse proves costly in 3 wicket loss

Australia made history on Sunday by chasing down a massive 331-run target to beat India in the highest successful run chase in women’s ODI cricket. Skipper Alyssa Healy led the way with a brilliant 142, guiding her team to a thrilling three-wicket win with six balls to spare at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam.

India had earlier posted a strong 330 in 48.5 overs, thanks to a powerful start by Smriti Mandhana (80) and Pratika Rawal (75), who added 155 runs for the opening wicket, India’s best-ever start against Australia in women’s ODIs. But a late collapse saw them lose six wickets for just 36 runs, which proved costly in the end.

Healy, named Player of the Match, struck 21 fours and three sixes in her 107-ball knock. Supported by Phoebe Litchfield (40) and Ashleigh Gardner (45), Healy’s aggressive innings put Australia in control. Despite a few quick wickets and late drama, Ellyse Perry (47) returned from a minor injury to hit the winning six in the 49th over.

Annabel Sutherland starred with the ball, taking 5 for 40, her first five-wicket haul, triggering India’s late collapse. Despite solid knocks from Jemimah Rodrigues (33) and Richa Ghosh (32), India couldn’t finish strong.

Australia remains unbeaten in 12 World Cup games since 2022 and sits atop the table. India will look to regroup before facing England next week.
