  • National cricket boards will engage in local campaigns to boost visibility and participation.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has launched the first ever ICC Women’s Cricket Week, a global initiative to celebrate and grow women’s cricket. The week long celebration will run from October 16 to 22, coinciding with the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, currently underway in India.

The initiative aims to boost awareness, inspire young talent, and support women’s participation in cricket across all levels from grassroots to international. It will be held annually, with national cricket bodies encouraged to run locally relevant activities to promote the women’s game.

ICC Chairman, Jay Shah called it a 'proud milestone', saying it builds on the record breaking momentum already seen in women’s cricket this year. “This is about every girl who dreams of playing cricket. Women’s Cricket Week gives us all a chance to shape a more inclusive future for the sport”, Shah said.

The initiative has been backed by the ICC Women’s Cricket Committee and Chief Executives’ Committee, reaffirming ICC’s long term commitment to equality in the sport.
