5 Sports Autobiographies That Inspire Us

The Greatest: My Own Story- Muhammad Ali

This 398 page inspiring book is one of the best autobiographies ever written about a sporting athlete. Being called as the greatest heavyweight of all eras, Muhammad Ali is a three time World Heavyweight Champion. The autobiography was released in 1975 and was written in collaboration with Richard Durham and Nobel Prize-winning novelist Toni Morrison. The book shows Ali’s life in and out of the ring by portraying his life as a sports legend, an anti-war advocate, goodwill ambassador, fighter, lover, poet and provocateur.

Initially, the editors have criticized Richard Durham for his writing as Random House’s editor-in-chief stated ‘I’m not sure the book is the true story of Ali’s life’ (Source: Wikipedia). However, after several editing post the criticism, the book was finally released in 1975.

Trivia: Actor Will Smith played Muhammad Ali in the biopic film Ali, released in 2001.
