WAAYU, India’s pioneering zero-commission food delivery app, has officially launched on the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) as a seller marketplace. This move marks a transformative shift in the food delivery sector, eliminating commission fees and creating a direct, cost-effective connection between restaurants and consumers.
Since its inception in May 2023, WAAYU has rapidly expanded its reach, onboarding over 3,000 restaurants in key Indian cities such as Mumbai, Pune, Jaipur, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. The platform’s integration with ONDC is set to enhance its impact by collaborating with prominent buyer apps on the network, including TATA Neu and OLA. This strategic partnership is expected to boost order volumes and offer a consistent flow of business to WAAYU’s restaurant partners, while ensuring a zero-commission model for deliveries.
The entry of major players like Flipkart into the ONDC network, joining existing buyers such as Paytm, Tata Neu, and Ola, is anticipated to further drive demand and strengthen the overall ecosystem.
Mandar Lande, CEO and Co-Founder of WAAYU, highlighted the app’s vision, stating, “WAAYU aims to revolutionize the food delivery industry by removing commission fees, thus offering a more sustainable and profitable model for the restaurant ecosystem. Supported by national and regional restaurant associations and cutting-edge technology, WAAYU aspires to become the preferred app for restaurants”.
Anirudha Kotgire, Managing Director and Co-Founder of WAAYU, emphasized the significance of the ONDC launch, noting, “By going live on ONDC, WAAYU demonstrates its commitment to delivering a seamless and cost-effective food delivery experience. This expansion is a strategic move to extend WAAYU’s zero-commission model to more restaurants and consumers, further democratizing the food delivery landscape in India”.
WAAYU, leveraging its AI-driven platform, plans to continue its expansion across the country, solidifying its position as a trailblazer in the food delivery market.
