Narayana Murthy Gifts Rs 240 Crore Infosys Stock to 4-Month-Old Grandson
India witnesses the rise of perhaps its youngest millionaire, Ekagrah Rohan Murty, the four-month-old grandson of Infosys' iconic founder, N.R. Narayana Murthy. In a significant move disclosed through regulatory filings, Narayana Murthy has bestowed shares valued at over Rs 240 crore to his infant grandson. Ekagrah Murty now holds a substantial 0.04% stake in Infosys, with 15 lakh shares gifted in an off-market transaction.
This generous act has altered Narayana Murthy's stake in the IT giant, reducing it to 0.36%, equivalent to more than 1.51 crore shares. At the prevailing share price of Rs 1,620, Ekagrah Murty's inheritance amounts to a staggering Rs 243 crore. The gesture underlines the Murthy family's commitment to nurturing the wealth and legacy for future generations.
The joyous occasion of Ekagrah's birth unfolded in November last year, with Narayana Murthy and his wife, Sudha Murty, embracing the roles of proud grandparents. Their son, Rohan Murty, and daughter-in-law, Aparna Krishnan, welcomed the newest member into the family.
Adding to the family's recent milestones, Sudha Murty, renowned as an engineer-turned-philanthropist and author, recently assumed the responsibilities of a Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament. Her swearing-in ceremony, conducted in the presence of her husband, marks another significant chapter in the Murthy family's journey.
This remarkable event not only underscores the Murthy family's achievements but also highlights their commitment to entrepreneurship, philanthropy, and the future of India's tech landscape.
