Google Rolls Out Virtual Try-On in India for Photo-Based Outfit Previews
  • Google rolls out AI-powered virtual try-on for apparel in India
  • Users can upload a photo and preview outfits directly in Google Search
  • Feature aims to make online fashion shopping more accurate and personal

Google has launched its virtual apparel try-on tool in India, giving online shoppers a new and more personal way to see how clothes might look before buying them. The feature, now available inside Google Search, lets users upload a photo of themselves and instantly preview outfits with realistic detail.

The tool is powered by Google’s custom AI model built for fashion. This model understands body shapes, fabric textures, and how different materials fall or stretch on the human body. With just one full-body photo and good lighting, users can view lifelike outfit previews without any complicated setup.

Google first introduced the try-on tool at its I/O 2025 event and tested it earlier this year. The feature is now rolling out more widely across India and the UK. According to Google, the technology aims to solve a major challenge in online shopping, uncertainty about fit and appearance. Product photos often fail to show how an outfit will actually look on different body types, which leads to confusion and returns. With a more accurate preview, users can explore styles, compare fits, and shop with confidence.

Using the tool is simple. Shoppers can find the 'try it on' icon on supported apparel listings across Google Search. Tapping it opens the virtual fitting room, where users can switch outfits, adjust looks, and save or share the generated images with friends for feedback before placing an order.

The tool is designed to make online fashion discovery easier, more engaging, and more personalized bringing the fitting-room experience directly to the phone.
