Hyundai Elite i20

Launched: August 11, 2014

Price Tag: 4.80 lakh–8.00 lakh

The Korean auto maker launched the sportier version of its most selling hatchback, the i20, and it’s already gained good ground. Being tagged as the first cars to feature Hyundai’s fluidic design in the country, the Elite i20 is stylish than its predecessor and has a longer wheelbase, which should translate to more space on the inside. Interior design has also been refreshed and a lot of newer technology has been peeped on it to make the car even more competitive. The Elite i20 sports the same engines as the current variant, the 89bhp 1.4-litre diesel and the 1.2-litre Kappa2 petrol. Also on offer will be the 99bhp 1.4-litre Gamma petrol engine that will come with an automatic gearbox.

Tata Zest

Launch: August End

Price Tag: 4.75 lakh— 7.50 lakh

The Zest is Tata’s answer to Maruti Swift Dzire, Hyundai Xcent and Honda Amaze. Labeled as the next-breed of wheels that hosts a new set of engines and other features that are first of its kind, the car has garnered huge attention in the local and international market. In terms of engine, the Zest is powered with a 1.2-litre Revotron engine, which is petrol unit that produces 84bhp and 140Nm of torque. The diesel mill on the other hand is the 1.3-litre Quadrajet that include transmission options like the five-speed manual as well as an AMT, which is a first for Tata cars especially in this segment.
