Khangchendzonga National Park, Sikkim

Taking the total count of heritage sites in India to 35, the Khangchendzonga National park was recently added as one of the UNESCO heritage site, located in the Himalayan ranges. Also known as Kanchenjunga national park and Kanchenjunga Biosphere Reserve, the park covers a huge area over 850 sq. km and has an elevation of 1,829 m to 8,500 m above sea level. The national park famous for its fauna and flora includes the 3rd highest peak in the world- the Kanchenjunga Peak. Snow leopards are occasionally sighted in the park. There are few trekking routes in this national park for the trekking enthusiasts.
