Great Himalayan National Park, Himachal Pradesh

Located in the Kullu region of Northern Himachal Pradesh Great Himalayan National Park is spread over an area of 754.4 square kilometers. The park houses about 375 fauna species and numerous floral species, including few rare species of plants and animals such as blue sheep, snow leopard, Himalayan brown bear, Himalayan Tahr, musk deer spruces, horse chesnuts and huge alpine meadows. The park includes the upper mountain snow melt and glacial water melt origins of several rivers, mainly the offshoots Indus river. The park which is the part of the Himalayan Biodiversity Hotspots is one of the newest additions in the UNESCO heritage list. The park is also a wildlife conservation site; hence hunting of any of these animals is strictly prohibited.
