Anant Ambani Honored with Global Humane Award for Animal Welfare

Anant Ambani, founder of the wildlife conservation initiative Vantara, has received the prestigious Global Humanitarian Award for Animal Welfare from the Global Humane Society. He is the youngest recipient ever and the first Asian to earn this honor, which is considered one of the most respected global recognitions in animal conservation.
The Global Humane Society, part of American Humane, the world’s oldest and largest animal welfare certifying body presented the award at an international wildlife conservation event. The organization praised Ambani for his long-term commitment to rescuing, rehabilitating, and protecting vulnerable species through a science-driven, compassionate model.
Ambani was recognized for creating Vantara, a facility that blends technology, research, and large-scale care to protect threatened animals. He said the award reaffirms his belief in sarva bhuta hita, the principle of ensuring the wellbeing of all living beings. He added that Vantara’s mission is to give every animal dignity, care, and hope, driven by the spirit of seva.

Dr. Robin Ganzert, President and CEO of Global Humane, described Vantara as "a sanctuary of healing”, noting that its scale, ambition, and compassion set a new global standard for animal welfare. She highlighted Vantara’s integrated conservation approach, combining ex situ and in situ methods to restore species populations and support the return of endangered animals to their natural habitats.
Global Humane also awarded Vantara its Global Humane Certified distinction, recognizing its excellence in care and commitment to advancing global biodiversity.
