8 Best New- Car Engines For 2014

Fiat 500e: 83-kW Electric Motor

While it’s only available in California, the subcompact Fiat 500e two-door hatchback has scored big points for its zero emissions 83-kW electric motor. Though the electric run motors have a reputation for being heavy and a bit lacking, the 500e has certainly sidelined all these things by being lighter, more capably and is reasonably affordable too.

With its published limit of 85 miles on a single charge, the motor produces 100 percent of its 147 Nm of torque, which makes it one quick little car with the best in class engine mounted on it.

Ford Fiesta: 1.0L EcoBoost DOHC I3

EcoBoost line of engines from the Ford stable use some pretty advanced engineering to achieve solid power coupled with a good fuel economy, which is fitted under the Fiesta’s 1.0 liter turbocharged unit.

The 1.0 comes initially in two versions namely, 74 kW and 92 kW. The more powerful version delivers a maximum of 170hp from 200 Nm torque, while achieving approximately 20 percent better fuel efficiency and 15 percent reduced emissions than other engines.
