8 Best New- Car Engines For 2014

Chevrolet Cruze Diesel: 2.0L Turbodiesel DOHC I4

With nearly 2 million Cruzes been sold worldwide, one can proudly say that the 2.0L Turbodiesel DOHC I4 engine has played a significant part in helping Chevy revitalizing its position in the auto industry.

Powered by 2.0-liter, four-cylinder turbodiesel engine this unit makes 151 horsepower and 264 Nm of torque as opposed to the Jetta’s 140 hp and 236 Nm torque in its segment. With the proved success of Cruze the automaker also launched the face lifted version in the Indian market with more power and efficiency than anything comparable on the road. Additionally the company also set a new bar to the Cruze lineup.

Chevrolet Corvette Stingray: 6.2L OHV V-8

Tipped as any old-school sports car, but when it comes to power and performance the new 6.2L OHV V-8 engine fitted on to the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is still a tough competitor.

The latest Chevy V8 engine included in the 2014 Corvette Stingray measures in at 6.2 liters and comes with some of the latest engine advancements like direct injection and active cylinder deactivation to maximize its power at 460 horsepower.  Additionally, the Corvette V-8 engine has won only two Ward’s 10 Best Engines trophies, in 1998 and 1999, and the only other small-block recognized was the 6.0L in the GMC Yukon Hybrid, in 2008.

Honda Accord: 3.5L SOHC V6

When it comes to power, economy and smoothness there is no stopping the Japanese car maker and it proves it on their vehicles. With the new 3.5L making a convincing argument that modern engines do not need direct fuel; the Honda has proved that with its mid-segment sedan Accord.

The extensively reworked 3.5L SOHC V-6.engine now comes with a new cylinder-deactivation system that saves more fuel than on the previous-generation engine. The Variable Cylinder Management system used to shut down two or three cylinders at a time, now does it with only switch to 3-cyl Mode.
