Mustang GT 390

Ford has built some great Mustangs over the past fifty years, but the 1968 Fastback GT 390 is the best of them all.

The first-generation Ford Mustang was manufactured by the Ford Motor Company from April 1964 until 1973. And this introduction of the Mustang created a new class of automobile as the Mustang’s styling, with its long hood and short deck, proved wildly popular and inspired a host of imitators.

Powered by a 4.9 Litre V8 engine the 1968 models discontinued the Pony Interior in favor of a new deluxe interior package, which included special color options, brushed stainless steel trim, seat buttons, a tilt steering wheel, and special interior paneling. It was initially introduced as a hardtop, but at the time of its introduction, the Mustang, sharing its underpinnings with the Falcon, was slotted into a compact car segment.

Among them the most powerful engine was the Rochester fuel injected 327cid V8, which could do 360 hp. Some of the feature that were available then in the car included AM-FM radio, air conditioning and leather upholstery. New for the 1963 model  was an optional electronic ignition, the breaker less magnetic pulse-triggered Delcotronic, which was first offered by Pontiac on some 1963 models.
