Shawarma (Middle East)

An inexpensive meat dish made of meat cut into thin slices, stacked in a cone-like shape and grilled for hours. After grilling for couple of minutes, when the meat is ready, the vendors cut the meat in slices and serve as a wrap or on a plate. This Middle Eastern cuisine is made of lamb, mutton, chicken, turkey, beef or veal. To garnish, hummus, tahini or amba are used. Shawarmas are usually eaten with cucumbers, tomatoes, tabbouleh or fattoush.

Gelato (Italy)

The Italian gelato is actually different from the normal ice creams we have tasted. It is made with milk, cream and sugar, and flavored with nuts, fruits and other agents. Also, Italian Gelatos are much lower in fat than the traditional American ice cream. Remarkably, Gelato contains 70 percent less air and more flavoring than other kinds of frozen desserts. Italian law says that it must be made of 3.5 percent butterfat, compared to the 10 percent butterfat for ice cream by American law.
