Sumant Sinha Appointed Co-Chair of Global CEO Climate Alliance

ReNew, a leading renewable energy solutions provider, announced that its Chairman and CEO, Sumant Sinha, has been appointed as Co-Chair of the Alliance of CEO Climate Leaders, a flagship initiative of the World Economic Forum (WEF) and the largest CEO-led climate alliance in the world.
In his new role, Sinha will collaborate with global business leaders, including Ester Baiget, CEO of Novozymes, and Jesper Brodin, CEO of Ingka Group Ikea. The Alliance comprises 130 member CEOs from 12 industries, representing $4 trillion in revenues and responsible for 5.2 gigatonnes of carbon emissions annually approximately 10% of global emissions.
"The Alliance of CEO Climate Leaders has been instrumental in driving systemic action and fostering public-private collaboration in the global energy transition", Sinha said. "I look forward to engaging with a group of talented co-chairs and global CEOs committed to delivering tangible climate solutions and innovations across geographies and businesses".
Since 2019, Sinha has led ReNew in adopting strategies aimed at achieving net-zero targets. The company is recognized for its proactive approach in the renewable energy sector, particularly for setting a 1.5°C-aligned science-based target validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Over the last two years, ReNew has mitigated over 21 million tons of carbon emissions and boasts a portfolio of 21.4 GW, including contracted projects and those in the pipeline.
Gim Huay Neo, Managing Director of the World Economic Forum, praised Sinha's extensive experience, stating, "His insights into energy transition in emerging and developing economies will be invaluable. Under Sinha's co-chairmanship, the Alliance will intensify its focus on innovative solutions for decarbonization, setting a precedent for effective leadership in the global fight against climate change. The collaborative efforts aim to drive systemic action and foster significant public-private partnerships, furthering the global energy transition and addressing climate challenges comprehensively.
