SJVN Ltd Partners with IIT Patna to Accelerate Tunnelling Projects
SJVN Limited, a prominent hydroelectric power major, has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna, aiming to revolutionize its tunnelling projects through advanced geological models. The collaboration, as per an official statement released on Wednesday, seeks to combat time and cost overruns by employing predictive analytics algorithms.
Key objectives of the partnership include the development of sophisticated algorithms using integrated geotechnical data to forecast risks and provide early warnings tailored specifically for tunnelling projects. These proactive measures are anticipated to significantly mitigate challenges encountered during project execution.
Geeta Kapur, Chairperson & Managing Director of SJVN, emphasized that the MoU's primary focus is on devising state-of-the-art methodologies integrating various geotechnical data sources such as geological surveys, borehole data, geophysical measurements, and project monitoring data.
Furthermore, the collaboration aims to enhance the evaluation and design of support systems crucial for tunnelling projects by evaluating the intricate relationship between overburden and deformation.
Utilizing integrated geotechnical data and 3D geological models, SJVN and IIT Patna intend to identify and analyze potential risks and hazards associated with tunnelling projects.
The MoU signing ceremony, which took place in the national capital on April 2, was attended by A.K Singh, Director (Finance) of SJVN, and T.N Singh, Director of IIT Patna.
