Shiv Nadar University, Delhi-NCR, an Institution of Eminence, has launched India’s first B.A. (Research) in Interdisciplinary Humanities and Social Sciences (IHS), a four-year undergraduate program designed to prepare students for complex global challenges through cross-disciplinary learning.

The launch event brought together educators, school leaders, policymakers, and academic experts, reflecting India’s rising demand for interdisciplinary education. The program offers a wide academic foundation across natural sciences, social sciences, geopolitics, business, artificial intelligence, and culture. After completing a common first-year curriculum, students can choose one of three specializations including Sustainability Studies, Archaeology, Heritage and Historical Studies, or Society, Culture and Technology. The program is open to Class 12 graduates from any academic stream.

To support talented students, the university will award ten full scholarships per batch, covering 100% of tuition for all four years. Additional scholarships and financial aid options are also available.

Led by Professor Rajat Kathuria, Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, the program focuses on helping students understand major global shifts such as climate change, geopolitics, AI, and cultural transformation. Students will engage in hands-on learning through fieldwork, research projects, internships, and international exposure.

The university states that the new program strengthens its mission to develop future-ready graduates equipped to contribute to fields such as policy, media, education, research, design, international development, and start-ups.
