Setback For Apple, Here Are Some Public Reactions

As analysts point, Apple CEO Tim Cook’s visit to India was to rather promote proceedings in setting up stores, manufacturing units and R&D center, (or Map Development center for that matter). Some also point to persuade the government to get permission to sell old iPhones which apparently was denied in an earlier attempt. Looking back, it’s pretty ironical for Steve Jobs once quoted that iPhone does not suit the Indian Market (though he loved India). India has emerged as one of the fastest growing markets for Apple, with the company notching up over $1 billion (around Rs 7,000 crore at current exchange rate) sales revenue in 2015. Its sales grew 76% during the quarter-ended December 2015 even as its global sales growth slowed to 0.4%.

Other comments worth mentioning include, you be the judge.

“If that isn't a slap in the face (of Apple), I don't know what is”

“These kinds of politics are why I would never want to be CEO of a major multinational company.”

“If they want to be douche bags then Apple should too and cancel the Maps Development Center.”

“Imagine if in the U.S. every retailer had to sell 30% of Made in U.S.A. products... that would be something. I remember when the "made in the U.S.A." was like... wow!!!! Take my money!!!”

“Lobbying isn’t allowed by Law in India”, “yes the country is run via Bribes”
