Reliance Retail Appoints Jeyandran Venugopal as CEO

• Flipkart’s former CPTO Jeyandran Venugopal becomes CEO of RRVL
• Will work with Isha Ambani to scale retail and omni-channel strategy
• Brings over 25 years of experience across tech, e-commerce and retail

Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd (RRVL) has appointed Jeyandran Venugopal as its new President and Chief Executive Officer, creating a powerful leadership addition as the company strengthens its retail ambitions ahead of a future public listing. Venugopal, who joins from Walmart-backed Flipkart, will work closely with Isha Ambani and the broader Reliance leadership under the guidance of Mukesh Ambani and Manoj Modi.

At Flipkart, Venugopal served as Chief Product and Technology Officer, where he led large teams across product, engineering, design, data science, security and IT. He also oversaw customer growth, marketing, monetization and the company’s commerce cloud initiatives. His work contributed to building scalable systems and driving revenue-focused innovation.

Before Flipkart, he held the CPTO role at Myntra and Jabong, guiding the platforms through strong growth phases and improved profitability. His earlier experience includes senior roles at Yahoo and Amazon Web Services, where he helped build and expand global technology and commerce platforms.

In his new mandate at RRVL, Venugopal is expected to boost the company’s massive retail portfolio, expand omni-channel capabilities and push technology-led efficiency across operations. His appointment comes as Reliance Retail strengthens its leadership bench and continues to accelerate digital and physical retail integration across India.

Venugopal holds Master’s degrees in Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Bachelor’s degree from the College of Engineering, Guindy. V. Subramaniam will continue as Managing Director of Reliance Retail Ltd.
