Open Text has launched a comprehensive vaccination drive and several support measures to help its 3,000 Indian employees through the remainder of the COVID-19 crisis, as part of the OpenText Voyager Fund. The Voyager Fund was launched last year to support pressing needs in the communities where our employees live and work. Our initial efforts were focused on  combating food insecurity, and we are now expanding to support vaccinations and medical expenses for our Indian employees and their families.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has created significant challenges around the world, and OpenText is committed to doing everything we can to support our employees and communities throughout this crisis,” said Mark J. Barrenechea, OpenText CEO & CTO. “In order to support our employees and their families in India, we have partnered with top-tier healthcare providers and hospitals to ensure access to critical health services and vaccinations, as well as providing access to immediate financial aid where needed.”

Staff volunteers are dedicated to organising the vaccination programme and catering to employees’ and employee family members’ needs for emergency assistance – including hospitalisation, medication and oxygen. An internal online community with support resources is keeping employees informed about the vaccine roll-out and support options in real time.

For the convenience of OpenText’s Indian employees, the vast majority of whom continue to work remotely, the vaccination roll-out program has been spread across multiple locations. Employees and family members can get inoculated at vaccination centres set up in OpenText’s Hyderabad and Bengaluru office locations; they also have an option of going to a hospital of their choice elsewhere in India; or they can go to a partner hospital to receive their vaccine.

The company also takes care of medical expenses that are not covered by medical insurance and provides a cash advance benefit to meet immediate medical assistance needs. This includes coverage for COVID test costs, and if confirmed COVID positive, employees can quarantine themselves in an OpenText authorised hotel facility. Employees are entitled to additional sick leave if the need arises and take time off if they are primary caregivers for family members.

“We are committed to creating an environment where our employees can bring their best selves to work,” added Isaac Rajkumar, MD India and Senior Vice President, Engineering. “We are optimistic that these efforts, combined with the recent Voyager Fund donations made to the Bengaluru and Hyderabad chapters of United Way, will help in supporting our communities through this crisis.”
