National Democratic Alliance Committed to Progress of the Poor

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is committed to furthering national progress and empowering the poor and downtrodden. This is what he said while presiding over the meeting of NDA Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Minister here immediately after the swearing-in ceremony of Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and his ministerial colleagues.

We had comprehensive discussions on aspects of good governance and ways to further improve people's lives, the PM wrote. Our alliance is committed to furthering national progress and empowering the poor and downtrodden.

The Very moment after Oath Ceremony in Panchkula, PM Narendra Modi presided over a half day NDA conclave, for the very first time after years of lacuna in Chandigarh- the shared capital city of both Punjab and Haryana, and all Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers of the ruling NDA were there.

The conclave discussed all national issues of development. It also discussed subjects like Sanvidhan Ka Amrut Mahotsav and the Year of 50th anniversary of an attempt to murder democracy.

The BJP now has 13 Chief Ministers and 16 Deputy Chief Ministers, with Chief Ministers of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Sikkim, Nagaland, and Meghalaya coming from its allies.

It is the third successive win for BJP in the Assembly polls in Haryana. The party has won 48 of the 90 seats in the State Assembly while the Congress could win 37. The Indian National Lok Dal bagged two and three Independents made it to the assembly. All three have unstinted support to the government.
