Nachiket Pantvaidya Appointed GM of Sony Pictures International Productions India

Sony Pictures Entertainment has announced the appointment of seasoned executive Nachiket Pantvaidya as General Manager of Sony Pictures International Productions (SPIP) in India. Pantvaidya, a veteran with extensive experience in the media and entertainment industry, will manage local Indian production while collaborating closely with Shony Panjikaran, General Manager and Head of Sony Pictures Releasing International, India.
Pantvaidya’s new role marks a strategic move by Sony Pictures to enhance its local production capabilities and expand its footprint in the Indian market. His appointment aligns with SPIP's ambitious plans to release its largest slate of local productions over the next two years.
Shebnem Askin, Executive Vice President, Creative Production, and Head of Sony Pictures International Production, welcomed Pantvaidya's appointment: “Sanford Panitch and I are thrilled to have Nachiket join SPIP to lead our local Indian production. This is a significant step as we gear up to deliver our most substantial local slate for the Indian market. Nachiket's rich industry experience, coupled with his dynamic execution skills, is expected to propel SPIP to a leading position in the market”.
Pantvaidya expressed his enthusiasm about his new role, emphasizing the evolving landscape of movie making in India. “I am pleased to lead and nurture our creative and business forces to ensure we best serve our movie audiences, especially in these dynamic times. We aim to scale our output to meet and exceed audience expectations, and ensure that the right cohorts can access the movies of their choice on their preferred distribution mediums. Before joining Sony Pictures, Pantvaidya held prominent roles in the media sector. He was the Group CEO of Balaji Telefilms and the Business Head of Sony Entertainment Television. His illustrious career includes leading positions at Star Plus, Star Pravah, and Fox Television Studios. An alumnus of IIM-Ahmedabad, Pantvaidya has also served in key management roles at the BBC and Disney.
In addition to his new responsibilities at SPIP, Pantvaidya will continue his role as CEO of Sony Entertainment Talent Ventures, balancing his duties across both domains.
